This is a rental home that was recently remodeled and we had a very short window to investigate in before the new tenants moved in. The owner requested that we not use any identifying pictures to keep the location confidential.
This investigation was a little bit different than the others. The homeowner had shared with Mark interesting details about the previous owner. Mark kept this information to himself to “test” Bobbie’s sensitivities. In the past, Bobbie has picked up on many things during investigations and we use this information to guide us on what rooms to focus on and where our research may lead. She’s been pretty darn accurate on previous investigations - but Mark, our resident skeptic really wanted to see just how well she was able to pick up at a place that she knew nothing about. In fact, the location wasn’t even revealed to her until the moment she had to drive there.
I will list below what things she picked up on that were then verified by either the homeowner or Mark. I should also add that there were not any “misses”. I mean, it wasn’t like she was guessing 100 things and only hit on 5 of them. She only pointed out 5 things she “picked up” and all 5 were correct. That’s shooting pretty good in my book.
Anecdotal Evidence:
-
•On the initial walk-through Bobbie very strongly felt a female presence. The homeowner verified that the previous owner was a female who lived alone.
-
•Bobbie then commented that this woman died very recently, within the last few years. She didn’t feel it was an “old” spirit. The homeowner verified that she passed away prior to him buying the home. Research later found she died in September, 2005.
-
•During an EVP session Bobbie got the sense that this female enjoyed cooking a great deal and began asking questions about favorite dishes and cooking related questions. The homeowner knew this woman and confirmed that she LOVED to cook.
-
•During an EVP session in the living room, Bobbie sat on the floor with her back against the wall and said she experienced a very strong chest pain. Strong enough that she questioned whether or not she, herself, was having a heart attack - however, it quickly subsided and she felt fine. Later, Mark confirmed that the homeowner had told him that the previous owner died of congestive heart failure while on the couch in the living room.
-
•During an EVP session in the guest bedroom, Bobbie smelled very strong and acrid cigarette smoke. She asked the homeowner if the woman was a heavy smoker. He said she was. Bobbie asked if she smoked a heavy brand of cigarettes, like Marlboro - he confirmed yes, she did smoke Marlboro. Mark questioned whether or not Bobbie smelled residual smoke that was imbedded in the walls and the homeowner said he painted several coats of Kilz sealant and paint on the entire interior of the home and replaced the carpet. The other investigators didn’t smell any residual smoke odor. (Also during this conversation about smoke is when the K-2 meter lit up 3 times - see evidence below.)
The current homeowner was impressed and felt that Bobbie had indeed picked up on the female presence of the previous homeowner. Mark still remains undecided, because he’s stubborn that way.
Audio Evidence:
First Investigation: Guest Bedroom
This is a clip of the K-2 activation that was mentioned above when Bobbie was discussing the smoking habits of the previous owner. Unfortunately, there is not a video clip of this as the video recorder was running in another room. However, all 4 people in the room confirm that they saw the K-2 meter light up 3 different times. They were strong hits of 3-4 lights each and within a very short time frame of each other. We were not able to locate any logical electrical source or interference that might have caused this event.
EVP Evidence:
Second Investigation: Living Room
Bobbie, Janice and Mark were talking in the living room. Janice mentions getting something to eat later and Bobbie saw Mark getting something out of his bag - which was a cigarette to use with the K-2 to hopefully get a response.
Janice says, “Well, we’ll just go by Arby’s and I’ll get me a roast beef sandwich and...” Bobbie interrupts and asks Mark, “What are you doing? Are you taking a smoke?
The EVP sounds like “Mmmm Hmmmm” and overlaps Mark as he says, “No, I was going to set one down.”
The EVP is heard on Bobbie’s recorder, but not on Mark’s recorder or on Janice’s recorder. If Bobbie had said it, it would be heard on both of their recorders.
Video Evidence:
Second Investigation
Mark’s video evidence is pending.
